Summer Portraits With Melissa

It's a hot summer here in Canada! It ALMOST makes me wish for winter. Then I remember just how much I hate that.

Anyways, seeing as it's summer and the weather was beautiful (and so was the light!), we decided to make it a shoot day in the backyard. I wanted these pictures to be bright and happy, just like summer is.

We started off with portraits of my sister sitting on the teal chair, then I played around with the awesome fake leaf we bought from Dollarama (my favourite place), then I used a crystal (a gift my parents received from someone or bought for themselves, idk) to reflect rainbow light onto my models (sisters) face. It worked out pretty okay. I was happy!

I am very excited to share these with you, as I'm very proud of them. Enjoy the pictures!

Summer Sunset Backyard Portrait Session

Backyard portraits, as you can already tell, are kinda my favourite locations to shoot at the moment. And being summer at that time, it was a perfect and convenient spot to photograph my sister. There was lots of summer glow in the afternoon and I just love that look! I try to photograph as much as I possibly came during that time so all my images look cohesive. But sometimes it goes and that's okay.

I photographed my sister in different areas of our backyard because you never know if the house siding or using the fence as a backdrop will work for your model. It did here.

Here are the portraits we took and if you like them a lot, please share! Thank you!

Spring Inspired Backyard Portrait Shoot

The weather was being fantastic on Sunday so a portrait shoot was the right thing to do. And I didn't have to leave too far from  home. These photos were taken in my front and backyard. I love that I'm able to challenge myself with locations because there's always that chance that the alley way between your house, the back of a grocery store or even a junk yard will look fantastic!

My sister was my portrait model and I was especially excited to be out photographing because of my new presets I bought for all of my shoots going forward! I am in love with these. I feel like my pictures are 20x better. They're so nice!! Thank you Rooke & Rover Crew LR Presets!

The exterior of my house my location so I had to know where to place her and pose her, and most importantly, I needed to know where I should stand to shoot from the right angle. All of these things are critical to a great photograph, especially with a limited location.

I am now excited to show off some pictures from the portrait session! I used my new presets for them.

I just realized that I put similar pictures right beside each other. Oh me..
